Barcode Data

Grooper version 2.60.0106
When scanning documents, we are separating the documents by using the Read Barcodes feature. Is there a way to extract the data from the barcode to use in an attempt to rename the document with that data? For example, if I have Document Type "Test" and the barcode has a 7 digit code of "1234567", is it possible to rename a doc type, using the information from a barcode, to export out of our system as either "1234567" or "1234567 - Test"?

GrooperGuru Posts: 481 adminIf I understand your question correctly, then the answer is yes. Let me first restate this in a slightly different way. Today, you classify a document to its appropriate Doc Type name. Let's say this document is an Appraisal. Now that it is classified as an Appraisal, export that document to a destination folder and you want the output filename to be something like Appraisal.pdf.
The new functionality you are asking for is to alternately use a barcode value extracted from the document as the file name. So if the barcode reads as "123", you now want to export this file as 123.pdf.
To do this, you need to have a field in your Data Model that uses a Default Value Expression of ContentTypeName. Then there should also be barcode-based extraction setup for that same field. If there is no barcode on the document, the value will be its Doc Type name. If a barcode is present, the value will be the barcode value. Now in your export configuration, make sure you map the filename to this field rather than the ContentTypeName directly. Let me know if this does not address your scenario appropriately.Matt Harrison
