Opening a field's dialog window in code

I'm working on a custom activity that has an expression property similar to the "Should Submit Expression" or "Next Step Expression" field in batch process steps. I would like to bring up the property’s dialog box through an event fired off by another field. Is there a method somewhere that would allow me to open the dialog box directly or fire off an event that would bring up the box?
