how do you change the concurrency mode for a threadpool from multiple to per machine?

it's greyed out on my machine, I've stopped the service and it still wont let me change it.

For the default thread pool its default setting is multiple, but for other thread pools like "Render" if you run Design Studio as Administrator you will be able to change the settings with no problem. For future reference.
