Is classification absolutely necessary? Can I run activities like File Export without assigning a document type?

GrooperGuru Posts: 481 adminYes, documents must be classified in order to perform any type of Extraction or Export. You'll notice when trying to configure a Database Export or Document Export that you first have to select a Content Type. This is required so that Grooper has a series of fields which can be mapped to an output folder, file name, or property during the Export process.
In simple use cases where Classification would otherwise serve no practical purpose, you can assign a static document type during Electronic File Import, as a property of a Control Sheet during Separation, or as a Default Content Type on the Extraction activity.

Classification is necessary when you're exporting index data, such as to AX. Grooper needs to know what the document type is so it knows which index data goes with that particular document type.
