horizontal and vertical dpi difference

I’ve been working with a dataset throughout the week, and something odd I’ve encountered on a major portion of the document collection is the presence of asymmetrical
images. This is when an image has a specified dpi horizontally that is different than the dpi vertically. This seems to wreak havoc on many imaging tools both in and outside of Grooper.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with these images, or can that even be done in Grooper?

GrooperGuru Posts: 481 adminThis is a really uncommon occurrence, however, we do have a tool that can combat this. The solution is to apply permanent image processing to the images prior to running them through OCR or any additional steps. We recently (in Grooper 2.6) updated the existing "Resize" IP command to make it easier to handle these. n that command's "Sizing Method" property, there is now an option names "NormalizeAspectRatio".
As per the help documentation...
"NormalizeAspectRatio: Resizes images with non-square pixel aspect ratios by increasing the lower of the X/Y DPI to the higher X/Y DPI. If the pixel aspect ratio is already square then the image will not be altered. For example, if an image is set to 100x200 DPI, the image will be resized to 200x200 DPI."Matt Harrison
